What's New at The Koetting Associates?
Back to School
It is not too late bring your children in for those "back to school" eye examinations. Much of what a child learns is dependent on good vision and school and pediatrician vison screenings don't always show when there might be a problem. It is also now a law in Missouri and Illinois to have your child's eyes examined prior to entering into the public school system. Hours for appointments are available after school or on Saturday mornings. And, should corrective lenses be necessary, remember that many children make excellent candidates for contact lens wear and today we have healthy and convenient options available for children of all ages.
Switch Sun Wear
The Koetting Associates is happy to introduce a new line of sunglasses called Switch.These stylish designs come with three easily changeable sun lens colors and are ideal for golf and other outdoor sporting activities. They are also available with prescription lenses that likewise have the changeable option. Stop by and see this exciting new line and don't forget, we continue to carry one of the area'a largest inventories of Maui Jim and Oakley sun wear as well.
New FDA Clinical Trials
Once again The Koetting Associates has been asked to participate in two new clinical trials investigating a new soft lens disinfecting solution and a new contact lens design. These studies may come up throughout the year and we are often looking for patients to participate. If you would be interested in participating in a study please ask one of our Patient Services Assistants to see if you might qualify.
New Lens for Keratoconus
The Koetting Associates has been selected as one of a limited number of practices in the country to offer a new contact lens for keratoconus, available sometime this fall. Keratoconus is a degenerative condition of the cornea that results in corneal thinning and distortion and often a rigid contact lens is the only option to restore adequate vision. This new contact lens design combines a rigid lens center and a soft lens skirt providing the visual benefit of a rigid lens with the increased comfort of a soft lens. Though these "hybrid" lenses have been around for a while, this represents a redesign that should allow more patients to be successfully fitted.
